Spring is the perfect time of year to travel. If you love temperate climates and smaller crowds, then you should consider scheduling your trip within the next 2 or 3 months. There are many beautiful destinations that you can visit, making it easy to see the world without fighting the masses at the big tourist destinations.

If you are planning a spring trip, it is essential that you are cautious with your schedule and destination. Here are a few tips to help you avoid the spring break crowds on your upcoming vacation:

Watch the Calendar

The common spring break weeks happen in the 2nd and 3rd weeks of March. But, a few schools plan their spring break during the first or last weeks of March. If you want to avoid the crowds as much as possible, then it is best to return from your trip by the beginning of March.

Also, consider the days when the spring breakers commonly travel. Most of the time, people will schedule the flights on the weekend days to maximize the time away. You can miss the crowds in the airport by planning your travel times on weekdays.

Choose a Good Destination

Spring breakers are usually looking for warm, beach destinations for their trips. Are you going to travel during the month of March? Consider visiting some of the big cities with cooler weather, such as Seattle, New York, or San Francisco.

Stay away from family destinations, such as Disneyland and other major theme parks. Another option is to go to a destination that is further away from the US. Most college students and big families won’t spend the money to go all the way to South America or Asia. The favorite international destinations are Mexico and the Dominican Republic, so you should avoid these areas.

Selecting a Hotel

As you are choosing a place to stay, avoid cheap all-inclusive resorts. It is better to spend a little more money so that you can stay at a property that won’t bring in the budget-focused college crowd.
